UCD Women’s rugby has grown in popularity in the last few seasons. The team trains on Monday and Wednesday nights, with matches usually scheduled on a weeknight to suit students who may have to work or travel home at the weekends. The Women’s 1st XV team will compete in Leinster League Div 2 & the Intervarsity league this year, playing other college teams around the country.

The UCD team caters for beginners up to the most experienced of players;

We train every Wednesday night at 7pm on the all weather pitch behind the UCD Sports Centre. If you are interested in joining or are just curious about the game, feel free to come watch training any night.

Goals

At UCD we set out to give all our players a basic knowledge of the game before advancing onto the finer points, with player safety an upmost priority, as so many of our players only take up rugby when they come to UCD.
Our team wants to win, but we also want to ensure that everybody has the craic and enjoys every minute of their time with the team.

Why play with UCD?

We welcome all players with all skill levels, just because you haven’t played before doesn’t matter one bit to us, we’ll teach you how to play. Our coaches will take beginners in small groups to help them along at the start, while more experienced players benefit from one to one coaching sessions as well as group sessions. We also want you to have fun so we will organise nights out as team building exercises throughout the season as well as an end of season friendly followed by our Awards Night in April.
Playing rugby is a great way to make friends when you come to college and the friendships you make playing rugby last well beyond your time in UCD.
